What is Simple Living

A few years ago, we made a decision that we didn't want to live the suburban, hustle and bustle life. We wanted one of those lives where you don't eat, drink and sleep stressful jobs. We wanted a life where we would not have to depend on two full time, incomes that just barely covered all the things we thought we needed in our lives.

We decided to change our lifestyle to fit what we wanted, not what the TV, magazines, friends and even family thought we should have. We sold up and bought a little rural property and changed our lives for the better.

Creating a Simple Lifestyle doesn't happen overnight, nor does it happen in a month. It takes quite some time to achieve because it isn't just about collecting the eggs from the chook shed or growing your own veges, it's a complete shift in thinking that comes with practice.

So where do you start?

I believe the best way to start is to think about what your life is going to look like in one years time. How is it going to be different from today? Then, think about what your life is going to look like in five years time. Write down how it looks, when it is the perfect lifestyle for you.

Okay, so you have put some thought into it, next comes the fun part. What do you need to do, in order to get to your dream ending? How do you make it happen?

The implementation of any plan is always the hardest part. Many people never even start the implementation phase, they stay in the dreaming stage for ever and then wonder what happened and they become very disappointed in themselves, or they blame other people or the circumstances around them. Don't let this happen to you. Start your new simple lifestyle today.

I am writing this in December, 2017. If you dream your simple living plan for the next couple of weeks, you can start the implementation stage in earnest in January. Then you will be in the new year with your new plan and your new lifestyle will start to materialise.

Believe me, if you try this, it will work. You need to keep at it and be grateful every day for what you have and where you are headed.
