Living off the Grid as a lifestyle choice, in our opinion, takes health and fitness into account. It is our responsibility to take charge of ourselves and ensure that we are as healthy as we can be.

We need to be fit enough to take care of everything that needs to be done around our property. We like to feel well and we do not like to go to the doctor for prescriptions.

We like to look after ourselves, by keeping active and by eating as well as we can, drinking plenty of water and using natural herbs and supplements. We like to eat a lot of fresh vegetables on a daily basis and we don't eat red meat very often (about once or twice a month).

We are not saints, although Steve claims he has a halo, we do like to eat take aways when we are out and about, but we do like to try and think consciously about what we eat generally.

Getting exercise is important. Steve works manually every day, so even though he is over 60 he is easily able to keep up with say the average 40 year old, and I am working on getting fitter. I have recently taken up yoga and am loving it.

Some of the supplements we like to include in our daily life are coloidal silver, apple cider vinegar, bi-carb and herbs and spices such as cayenne pepper, turmeric, cinnamon etc. I will write some separate articles on each of these because I think they are important to include in your diet.
